Project HERO Release

I'm super excited to release the finalized build of Project: HERO! It's been a big summer endeavor to put this game together, and I have intense gratitude for the artists, designers, and programmers who helped me realize a vision of something that I thought was years out of my reach. I can finally say I've developed something I have a passion for in a genre I'm truly passionate about, and that truly makes me feel like I have earned the mark of a game developer.

I hope you enjoy Project: HERO, reader! A lot of love went into this thing, even if all that love did not happen to include a tutorial. The summer was only so long!

To thank each of my developers individually:

Russell -> Huge thanks for being one of the first people to reach out about the project, and for working with me to iterate your UI art designs. I really felt like our work helped me improve in communicating my ideas as a designer, and your art gave a lot of the expressiveness that the project really needed.

Ethan -> I have no idea how you pull out 3D models. They're incredibly impressive, especially given our skill levels. Huge thanks for taking the challenge of developing Glocktopus' first-person view head-on and doing an absolutely fantastic job with it.

James -> Big thanks for being the other person to reach out immediately about the project. More than that, thanks for being a mentor for me and the rest of our team as far as production goes. Even without taking real production classes, I feel like I know a lot more about how to structure a game development environment thanks to your assistance.

Will -> Thanks for bearing with me as the design of the game iterated. The checkpoint system was crucial to polish, and while it took many 'oh I want this' instances to get it right, everything works very well now. More than that, I really appreciate the voice work you did for the game. I think it lends well to the atmosphere of the characters, and I'm very happy with it.

Cabot -> Thanks for jamming on level design with me. I feel like our experience together there was my first time really game developing collaboratively in real-time, and our communication, as a result, is a solid model for how I want to structure my time and effort designing with others. Hopefully, the... junction doesn't give anyone too hard of a time!

Thomas -> I really appreciate how you went out of your way to try new things with the project, and how you were eager to take on any quote-unquote extracurricular tasks we needed done that weren't central to the game. The audio sounds you brought together for Caveman Balling made him significantly more visceral to play, and I'm very happy with that.
